Finnish but not Finnished!

You can take the girl out of Finland but you can never take Finland out of the girl.. right?

somethings I always miss from my own country when living abroad.. I think all expats do. We all have a dream world of things we´d want to mix together, little bit this and that, and the soup would be perfect!

One thing I always miss is this fish called Silli!!

small fish that only lives in the nordic waters.. and how you serve and eat it = Its raw fish with different flavour sauces. Luckily..the multinational corporations are all over and Ikea saved many my days in BCN. One thing Im personally pleased.. my little man's dad learned to love this fish! he really does! heh.. our friends are not such big fans, but who cares, leaves more to us!

Never failed with an evening snack like this while watching football!

On foodwise, Ikea is not the only who saves they day..
There is a Swedish restaurant in Barcelona.

                                                             Pappa Sven!

ran by a Swedish woman called Nina and all employees in the kitchen and waitresses are Nordic. Nina is nice! Nina is supernice! Nina loves us all :) she also has a small shop at her restaurant so that if you dont feel like ( or have time ) going to Ikea, she also sells some food stuff there. She arranges Midsummer Dinners, Xmas Buffet, Crayfish Party,  all kinds of special things on Scandinavian Holidays and also sells stuff for take away from the buffet tables. But I think the most popular evenings are her Wednesday Tapas nights! Swdish Tapas for 1 euro each! Oh Yes! niiiiiiiice and cozy!  They advertise they make the best meatballs in town.. dont know haven't tasted cuz I of course think the best ones are made by me :)

We also have a Scandinavian Club in Barcelona. All the countries under one same roof.

Kids participated Suomi School, Finland School every second Saturday. Its not really a school, no homework, no tests, nothing like this..   Kids liked it alot, they had all kids in separate groups according to their age.  2 hrs every second weekend to speak Finnish and do Finnish stuff. These schools are all over the world and funded by Finnish Government.. they teach about Finland, culture, nature, festivities, language, music.. whatever :) Many kids that are half Finnish goes to these schools to keep up with the roots. Every second Saturday was clubday for Finnish kids and every second week for Swedish Kids.

They also organize parties for important days, they have a library to lend books and dvd's, notice board for jobs and other info, concerts, theatre plays,we had Xmas sales, and couple other sales through out the year. During day time and evenings there is a language school where you can study all Scandinavian Languages. Very cool place! also a meeting point for parents, not only kids.

Outside of the Club Time we arranged other Scandinavian Get Together's as well.

Its nice to live abroad but its also important and cool to have friends and know people from own country. We also have a very active Facebook group for all Finnish people living in Catalunya where we share lots of information about many things..flats, jobs, where to go what to do.. we sell stuff, ask and give advise.. what ever is needed, there is always someone who knows something you dont :) Connecting I think its the key word just like Nokia tells us..or something.

This was Circus day with our Danish friends!

Its just the same where I live and what I speak.. I will always be Finnish!
allthough..Im not sure I agree with this joke totally :
