2. Barrios -El Born

The second thing I love about  BCN is the city itself and the Barrios, neighbourhoods you find there. I think its sooooo funky, small little worlds next to eachothers and they all are different! 2hrs walk through the city and this Finnish chica has peace on soul.. Bcn is not that big at all, not crazy big like London or Paris.. within 30mins you can go everywhere by metro or bus or motobike or even normal bike.. also, Its not like many other cities that are somewhat all similar look a likes..

its a mixture of architecture, cultures and history and most of all.. cooooool people!

The old town, Ciutat Vella and Gracia and Sarria up more north used to be little villages and Barcelona was made by putting these villages together.. all roads and streets between Old Town and North parts of the center are made with a ruler. Straight lines up and down..  Eixample in the middle is nowadays a bit posh and buildings are big with huge flats. Older parts these ex villages are still real villages with small narrow streets and curves and all kinds of funky buildings. Part of Eixample is muchos rainbowflags hanging everywhere and bars, shops, hotels - whatever and everything- one big gayworld , also called as Gayxample.

My 2 favorite Barrios ( if I must choose..) are El Born and Gracia.  Ciutat Vella, the old town, is dived to parts Raval, Gotico and Borne. Im not sure maybe Las Ramblas in the middle is also "its own " but these are the main ones. I used to live in El Born and I love it.. its very turistic ofcourse and also loooots of foreigners live there. Guiris- as the locals call us foreigners. So, its a Guiri-landia! and I love it! Who doesnt like a place where the main street in the middle is called Carrer de Princesa! Princess Road! we loved  it with Ines :)) In the map, you can see,  there is also in Borne my Ciutadella Park :)

This is my Borne .. some images and feelings you see everyday when walking around.  hmm... I miss my Borne.. its hippy its chic its laid back its crappy its artistic and its veeeery relaxed..

I love the people who lives there and makes it all happen :)

Picasso Museum.. well one of them in the world, is in Borne.. BIG shame on me.. Ive never been there..

maybe this time I see you Picasso.. Ive been to one in Malaga and one huge expo in Helsinki maybe time for Barcelona too..

but if not.. there is always food and other stuff to enjoy..

Arc Triumf, Arco Triumfo is also in Borne.. well Im not actually sure where the border goes to Eixample.. it lies in its glory just by the border. Its cool as well.. everyday people walking dogs, playing petanque, rollerblading or just hanging around.. sometimes special events and couple times a year it Rocks On and some concerts are held there free of charge.

Once a year in February Borne has its own Carneval.. not maybe like in Rio but was fun anyway!

Back to reality.. I guess my laundry is not moving anywhere unless I go move it.. dishwasher is also hired asap.. anyone? :))    I show you Gracia, the other Barrio I really muchos like,  later.
